Gullwings On Parade

There are only a few cars in history that have become icons – cars that tilted the world of automotive design in new and unexpected ways. The Jaguar XK-E was one. The Corvette Sting Ray was another. And, of course, the silver “James Bond” Aston Martin DB5.

But before any of them came the Mercedes Benz 300 SL Gullwing, a car that stunned the post-war automotive world. It was unlike anything ever seen before. It was low and sleek. It spoke of power and speed. And money.
