Every Saturday before dawn, cars start arriving at a large parking lot in Irvine, California. Not just any cars, but the pick of all the custom, exotic and unique cars that only Southern California offers. Crowds of onlookers gather. Thousands of photos get taken of the cars. And then, around 9 o’clock, everyone leaves to go to breakfast.
This is Cars N Coffee. It started as a few friends getting together Saturday mornings to talk cars and hang out and it has grown into a monster event that lures hundreds of cars and thousands of people to Irvine every weekend.
In 2008, I let Southwest Airlines transport me to Irvine, where I met up with a dozen of my fellow car nuts from around the country. We inspected all the cars, took our photos and then adjourned for pancakes before going our separate ways back to where we started.
I have collected my photos of that event at this link: Cars N Coffee.
As it turns out, one of my colleagues lives nearby and has been attending this event faithfully for years. He is a real camera buff who has taken his passion and turned it into a website that posts the latest pictures every week. His site now has thousands and thousands of high quality pictures that you can browse at your convenience: CNCpics.com
I’ve been a car enthusiast as far back as I can remember. I’ve always liked American cars of one kind or another. Do you have any more car stuff to talk about?
Jason, if you like to talk about cars, pay a visit to The Hot Seat Forum (thehotseatforum.com). There are some nice folks over there and they are very knowledgeable about cars and car culture.
